Project Update: Taking strides forward in Scotland

Following on from our successful parliamentary campaigning in 2025, PoTS UK are now funding a project run by Louise Gordon.

Louise is writing to all Intergrated Care Boards and Health Boards (the people who buy NHS services for patients) across the UK, holding them to account for the inadequate services for people with PoTS. We are using the findings from our earlier Freedom of Information requests and Access to Services survey. Both bodies of work highlighted the absence of dedicated services and care pathways and we now have concrete evidence that demonstrates and supports this. This project has started in Scotland but we will be covering the whole of the UK in the coming months. In a few short weeks, we are seeing really positive results off the back of this work in Scotland and this led to a meeting with John Swinney (First Minister of Scotland) on Friday 13th February.

Chair of PoTS UK, Dr Lesley Kavi travelled up to Scotland for this important meeting and was joined by Louise Gordon. Louise tells us more about the meeting below:

“The First Minister, John Swinney, acknowledged the significant challenges faced by PoTS patients and expressed concern about the ongoing difficulties in accessing appropriate healthcare for PoTS in Scotland.We are encouraged by his commitment to raise the lack of PoTS care with both NHS Tayside and the Scottish Government. This is an important step towards equitable care for PoTS patients in Scotland.

PoTS UK will continue to engage with MSPs who have also been contacted on this issue. We look forward to further updates as this work progresses.”
