PoTS UK Peer Support Groups via Zoom – Pilot sessions in October

13 September 2021

We are very excited to confirm we will be holding 5 pilot peer support groups throughout October (Dysautonomia Awareness Month) and if successful, we would hope to roll these out further on a more regular basis from January 2022. Our survey back in January highlighted the real desire for these groups and we always aim to give you what you need.

These groups are the perfect opportunity to meet with your peers and talk to those who understand what you are going through. These sessions will be run by volunteers who either have PoTS or are affected by PoTS.

These are open to age 18+ but we will definitely be setting up groups for under 18s if the pilots are successful.

All of our volunteers will have had references checked, DBS checks and completed safeguarding training. We are so grateful to our fantastic team of volunteers who will be leading these groups- they have already put in a lot of work to ensure the sessions will be as helpful as possible!

You must sign up in advance to attend and (free) tickets will be available to register for from 9am on Monday 20th September via eventbrite.

Tickets will be offered on a first come, first served basis and spaces are limited.

The dates and times are:

Sessions will last 1.5hrs and will all be held via Zoom.

We want these sessions to be as helpful to you as possible and will welcome your feedback to ensure we tailor the groups to what you need and want.

The zoom link will be emailed to you the day before the meeting. Please check your spam/junk folder if not received.

Please only book for one session and PLEASE let us know if you are unable to attend so someone else can have your space. Please email: volunteer@potsuk.org.

Most importantly, the only person you should seek and accept medical advice from is your own healthcare professional who knows your medical history. It is essential that we do not give one another medical advice. These groups are the perfect opportunity to share experiences and you are welcome to share what has worked well for you. We must however appreciate how different we all are and what has worked for one may not be suitable for another. Our volunteers may stop a conversation if it appears medical advice is being given.

If you have any queries, please email volunteer@potsuk.org.
