PoTS UK MP Drop In Session – You made it happen!

18 March 2025

On Wednesday 12th March the PoTS UK team made up of trustees, nurse specialists, consultants and staff went to Portcullis House to meet MPs to discuss the inequitable access to healthcare for people with PoTS.

We were delighted to welcome over 40 MPs who showed great interest in the challenges we are facing and seemed keen to take forward the two actions we asked of them:

  • Write to their Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) or local hospital providers to develop a care pathway for PoTS and ensure high-quality secondary care services are available locally.
  • Write to their relevant Secretary of State for Health and Social Care – Wes Streeting, Jeremy Miles, Neil Gray or Mike Nesbitt to request that they:
    • ensure a secondary care service is available to patients in every region of the UK.
    • ask the NHS to commission national guidelines to improve patient care and their healthcare professionals’ confidence in managing them.

There is no way these MPs would have turned up without your support. You sent an amazing 2,254 emails reaching 572 MPs across the country, this is incredible!

We were congratulated on our campaign by several MPs, with one Scottish MP in particular stating that he had never received so many emails regarding one issue from his constituents. This is an impressive achievement and shows the power we have as a community to make a difference!

We will be spending the next few weeks following up on the actions we need MPs to take and providing them with templates where required.

Further details are to follow on how YOU can help us, but for now we would like to take the opportunity to thank you for all that you have done. Please keep an eye on our social media and take the time to read our newsletters as you really do make a difference!
